Site-Leader Commitment
We are looking for talented and thoughtful people who are interested in learning more about social issues and sharing that knowledge with others. You must be willing to work in teams of two and be an active leader.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- attending all meetings (fall and winter semester)
- leading one general meeting including a prayer, ice breaker, and informational presentation
- coordinating with your site contacts and your group members
- communicating trip developments and needs with student coordinator and group members
- planning a budget and keeping financial records for the trip
- coordinating service activities, meals, evening reflections, free time and responding to needs of the participants during the trip.
- convening with your group for pre-and post-break activities
Alcohol Policy
Alcohol and drug use and possession on any UM-ASB trip is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN due to university policy, liability and legal issues, respect for the members of your group and - most importantly - the individuals and organizations with whom we are working during spring break. If you are found with alcohol or drugs, you will immediately be asked to leave your group and travel home at your own expense.
Domestic Cost
The cost per participant is $125 (Flint - $80). This amount helps cover site fees, transportation costs, and general cost for all of the ASB trips within the United States. Some out of pocket expenses will also be incurred during the week to cover some of the food and any personal expenses you may have. Each group will help collect money through a bucket drive to cover some of the additional expenses.
International Cost
The cost per participant is $575.00. The actual cost, including airfare, will come close to $1,000.00. Therefore, all participants will be required to assist with a fundraising project in addition to the Bucket Drive on February 4th and 5th. This does not cover the cost of your passport. Some out of pocket expenses will also be incurred during the week to cover some of the food and any personal expenses you may have.
