"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. " —Matthew 11:28-30

Eucharistic Bread Bakers Needed
At St. Mary Student Parish, the hands baking bread for the Eucharist belong to people we know, who worship among us each week. We invite all members of the parish to participate in baking. We will provide all the equipment and guidance you'll need. The very simple process takes only a couple of hours. Baking Friday night or Saturday morning, parishioners provide fresh bread each weekend. It's a great chance for housemates or a family to perform a service. For details please contact Ted Deakin

`Love in Action` Prayer Blanket Ministry
Love in Action is a volunteer ministry that reaches out to members of our parish and assists them in times of need by offering a prayer blanket for those who are ill, or by providing a simple meal or by picking up a prescription, if needed.

If you are interested in helping to sew prayer blankets (only straight stitching is required) or would like to provide material for sewers, please contact Sara King at 734-665-7625 or Darlene Eagle

A Student Reflection on St. Mary Student Parish
I chose UM because it was the best choice for my career path. I expected that deepening my faith would be a major challenge and that I wouldn't get much support. To my great surprise and delight, St. Mary's has taught me the essence of the Catholic faith and encouraged that faith to a depth I didn't know existed. I have learned that Christ's love is an invitation - not an obligation. Teaching First Sunday catechism has been my most important role at St. Mary's because of its consistent and generative nature. Last year, two friends and I, taught 7th grade for the first time. Many of you are parents and I am sure you know the satisfaction of teaching a child something of significance and knowing that they have absorbed it. Teaching Catechism has taken me outside of the encapsulated life of a student and inspired me to grow in my faith in order to guide others. Maggie Horne, 3rd year undergraduate President, Newman Catholic Students Association, 2006-07
