"But we have to celebrate And rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life: he was lost and has been found " —Luke 15:32
With lent approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a bit about music ministry and the Triduum. The Triduum encompasses our Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil liturgies and is meant to be experienced as a continuous liturgy held over three days. From the Last Supper and the Agony in the Garden, through the Crucifixion, and culminating in our celebration of the Resurrection, the Triduum is an amazing experience of community and liturgy. We are also blessed at the Easter Vigil to witness the initiation of many new adult Catholics through Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Of course, the music minister in me sees this as an opportunity to go all out with the music! We have an amazing tradition at St. Mary's when it comes to music at the Triduum. We invite you to consider joining us this year!
The choir is a combined group of the regular Saturday and Sunday mass groups and cantors as well as members of St. Mary's who join us just for the Triduum. We usually can count on 50-60 voices for this choir. We spend several months preparing for these holiest of days and strive to lead the assembly to powerful prayer and worship.
Choir rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 beginning in late January and continuing every Tuesday until Easter. Feel free to just show up at rehearsal if you are interested in singing with us!
