This ministry respects the human dignity and human rights of lesbian and gay persons, and affirms that all who are baptized are called to full participation in the life, worship and mission of the church. Together we reflect on Scripture and listen to the lived experience of lesbian and gay persons and their allies.
This group is sponsored by St. Mary Student Parish. As a diverse community of believers we respect each person as a unique reflection of God's presence in our midst. We commit ourselves to be a community of care, support, formation, reconciliation and witness to justice with and among gay and lesbian persons, their parents, family members, and friends.
Monthly meetings for faculty, staff, students and their allies are private and confidential. Contact at 734-663-0557 ext.228, or at 734-663-0557 ext.233 for more information.
One Spirit Ministry on Campus
One Spirit seeks to provide Spiritual support to LBGT students as we:
- Recognize everyone's dignity and value regardless of sexual orientation, and gender identity
- Welcome all into the faith community & seek out those on the margins,
- Encourage full participation and involvement in church life, and
- Reflect on the meaning and value of Church teachings in our lives.
The goal of One Spirit is to show LGBT students that not only are they welcome in the Church, but also they are an important and valued part of our religious community.
Meetings during the school year will be from 7:00pm-8:30pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Check our website calendar for on-campus meeting location. Meetings are for students and their allies and remain private and confidential.
